Cycling aerodynamics and bramble
Scroll down to explore how bramble’s software is used to improve cycling aerodynamics.
Our involvement with cycling
TotalSim Ltd, bramble’s parent company, have been providing CFD simulation services to elite teams and bike manufacturers for over 15 years. Whether you are new to CFD or and an experienced engineer, bramble can give you the tools needed to improve your cycling aerodynamics.
bramble will enable you to run best practice simulations quickly and with ease, and results comparison is made easy with many tools to facilitate this such as graphs, movies and reports.
At bramble, we take care of the CFD so you can take care of the aerodynamics.
How it works
bramble can scan and upload the geometry of the rider at different leg positions and then automatically test each of these against a design update.
Provide bramble with armature models of the rider, created using Blender to allow morphing of arm and hand positions.
bramble can create rider-following-rider simulations as easily as single rider runs. On completion it will generate complete post-processing sets for both riders.
Powerful analysis
bramble extracts vast amounts of data from a simulation when it completes including:
– Headline and component forces and moments
– Aerodynamic balances for pitch, roll and yaw
– Force accumulation and distributions.
– Plots and movies of total and static pressure, velocity, vorticity, helicity and Q criterion.
All this data can be viewed in and downloaded from the browser, no matter where you are in the world. Plus bramble puts all the results in one place, nicely organised to make finding, analysing and tracking your data so much easier.

Simple pricing
bramble operates on a pay-as-you-go model, where customers purchase core-hours that are used when a simulation completes.
There are no subscription or license fees and you only get charged when a simulation completes.
Our OpenFOAM® based workflows are charged at £0.0575/core-hour and some sample costs are shown on the pricing tables. Note – actual costs will vary depending on model size and solve time.
